about jenny

Jenny graduated from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy's 1000 hour program and maintains a private practice as a Certified Massage Therapist.

She holds a double B.A. from Prescott College in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies.

Before becoming a full-time massage therapist, Jenny spent a significant amount of time living and working in the wilderness with adventure and wilderness therapy programs including Outward Bound. Through that profound work and lifestyle, she learned to connect compassionately with others and to contemplate the nature of being human.

She teaches at Healthworks Institute, Bozeman's massage school.

Jenny is a professional member in good standing of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).

Jenny's personal pursuits include many outdoor activities. She just learned to ski this past winter and is looking forward to next winter in the backcountry! She is also a gardener, reader, writer and musician. She appreciates many forms of art and enjoys travel immensely. Her yoga and meditation practice are strong sources of personal development and awareness, and she is particularly grateful for her relationships with family and friends.

training

Jenny received her training from the renowned Boulder College of Massage Therapy located in Boulder, Colorado. There are few massage therapy schools in the United States that offer as many hours of training as the 1000 hour program at BCMT and even fewer with a reputation of excellence. This school is known for its high quality education and ensuing high caliber therapists.

BCMT offers an approach to bodywork that combines a strong foundation in science blended with subtleties of healing such as intuition. Classes like anatomy, cadaver labs and orthopedic massage modalites are balanced with courses like Shiatsu and Integrative Massage which focus on seeing the person as a whole being, including explorations of energetics in and around the body. Through her training Jenny was able to develop a well-practiced quality of touch that is both heartfelt and precise, offering her a refined ability to effect profound and lasting change on multiple levels.

techniques

During a massage, Jenny strives to meet the needs of each individual client. In her practice she works with many clients who have issues of chronic pain or who are recovering from injuries. She helps athletes enhance performance and ease training strains and pains.

In her treatment-based work she uses a variety of Neuromuscular and deep tissue techniques including MFR (Myofacial Release), MET's (Muscle Energy Techniques), and Trigger Point Therapy along with Lymphatic Drainage. Jenny also performs relaxation massage, Reiki, and a touch of Shiatsu in her work. She is specially trained in and practices prenatal and postpartum massage. For each individual session she creates essential oil blends.

Over the past eleven years, Jenny taught and practiced yoga extensively. Her practical knowledge of alignment in the body gained through the study of yoga heavily influences her massage work. This allows Jenny to aid her clients in recognizing and improving postural deviations effecting health and comfort.

Jenny is thrilled to offer massage to the Bozeman community and is currently accepting new clients in her practice.
